Why I’m switching to Bellsouth (AT&T)
September 14, 2007 2:28 pm Blog PostsThere’s the whole “comcast sux” reason but other than that, Bellsouth (AT&T) has given me an offer I can’t refuse.
While at the AT&T Wireless store, I was grabbed by the AT&T DSL sales people that try to sell you on their services and I starting talking to them about the Comcast issues I’m having at home (spotty service, double billing and more) and they told me about a new service for people like me that don’t want to get a home phone line and use a cell phone as their primary communications means but still want DSL.
Anyway, here’s the deal. $45 a month gets you 6.0 megabit (ultimate) service with 1.5 megabits up. You also get a single static IP address and 24×7 tech support. I asked about modem details and he confirmed that I also received the highly configurable Netopia modem.
The great thing is, they do install a phone line but I can’t use it as a home phone. It’s a line with a non published number used strictly for the Internet and their own use. Bellsouth will install the modem and give me $125 back or 3 months of free service.
They told me just call up and ask for the Bellsouth Ultimate DSL Standalone package.
